US Sends Firefighting Aid to Canada Amid Worsening Wildfires

Secretary Rollins announces U.S. personnel and equipment deployed to assist Canadian provinces at highest fire alert level.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is assisting Canada in responding to severe wildfires affecting Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Alberta. Following Canada’s elevation of its wildfire preparedness to the highest level, the USDA Forest Service has deployed over 150 firefighters and support personnel, as well as equipment such as an airtanker, sprinkler kits, pumps, and hoses. The assistance is supporting Canadian efforts amid widespread extreme fire conditions.

“We are here to help our neighbors during their time of need, and our Forest Service Wildland Firefighters are the best in the business. I am thankful for the men and women who are bravely stepping up to serve. We pray for their success as they fight fires and save lives,” said Secretary Brooke Rollins.

While U.S. fire conditions remain within normal levels, the department stated it will maintain full operational readiness at home and reserves the option to recall personnel and equipment should domestic needs arise.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rollins and USDA officials as they seek to support the Canadian wildfire response.
  • For wildland firefighters as they attempt to contain the blazes in Canada.
